Meld Gallery: Licensing
Meld Gallery is available via dual licensing, either an open source GPL 2 license or a commercial license.
GPL 2 License
Licensing under GPL means the software can be downloaded, altered and used for free ... with certain restrictions.
For instance, if you alter the code and then distribute it, you must do so under the exact same license. In other words you can take it and use it without cost, but if you improve it you have to give away these improvements for free too. This is a generalization, and there are conditions where you can customize the software without having to distribute those changes. We strongly recommend you read through the license, as well as this excellent FAQ, and even post questions in the support forums if you still have concerns or need clarification about the license.
Commercial License
The commercial license available to organizations who cannot or do not wish to include GPL-licensed software in their organization. The commercial license allows the owner to modify and use the software without having to publicly distribute the changes they have made. If you have questions about the commercial license or wish to purchase one, feel free to contact us for the details and pricing.
Note that because Meld Gallery contains gallery types that have their own open-source licenses, the commercial license may not include the same set of base galleries. Note that this may also mean that the commercial version will contain gallery types not avialable in the GPL version.
