For Immediate Release.
Meld Solutions Inc. is proud to announce the release of Meld MiniCommerce, an open source Ecommerce plugin for the Mura CMS.
Meld MiniCommerce instantly adds Ecommerce functionality to Mura, a ColdFusion-based Content Management System. MiniCommerce will let Mura site administrators turn any page on their site into a purchasable product, from basic 'add to cart' functionality right up to including customized product attributes like 'size' or 'color'.
"It's real power, however, is in its ability to integrate easily with other developer's applications," says Grant Shepert, manager of Meld Solutions Inc. and the application's lead developer. "MiniCommerce was designed to provide two services. One, to provide a quick, basic level of shopping cart functionality to Mura CMS owners. The second, to provide a flexible, highly configurable Ecommerce engine for Mura CMS developers."
MiniCommerce accomplishes this by hooking into the Mura CMS Event and Renderer systems, as well as allowing basic customization by creating templates to replace default content. Custom product types, order forms, and receipts are all possible and in most cases very easy to achieve. "We wanted to make it easy for novice developers to achieve some basic customizations, and to give experienced developers the tools for developing sophisticated Ecommerce-powered applications. I admit it seems a wide range of ambitions for something with the name 'mini' in the title, but with ColdFusion and Mura CMS it's usually pretty easy to achieve."
MiniCommerce has been released under an open source GPL 2 license, meaning it is free to download, use and distribute*. It is also available under a commercial license for those organizations who cannot or do not wish to include GPL software in their business, or need to distribute MiniCommerce in a way that doesn't meet the GPL requirements.
